Getting started with Career Desk
Work through these steps at your pace. Progress is saved to your account.
✓Set your search criteria and experienceComplete
Add target roles, location or remote preferences, compensation, and a summary of your work. Include official titles, dates, accomplishments, and technologies. Separate professional experience from personal projects; flag gaps instead of inventing claims.
✓Save your first opportunityComplete
Find a current posting on the employer’s site. Use Start with a job link in Add opportunity to import the published details, then review the company, role, location, and compensation. If the site blocks imports, paste its posting text or fill missing details manually. Check remote eligibility and degree requirements; leave uncertain details marked Needs verification. Save before attaching documents.
3Attach a resume to an opportunityTo do
Resumes belong to an opportunity here. Open a saved role and choose Add resume under Application documents. Upload a PDF up to 2 MB. Keep each tailored version with the role it supports; download it when applying.
4Choose whether to use Claude or ChatGPTOptional
Optional: connect your own Claude or ChatGPT account for research and preparation. Grant read access to inspect your workspace and preparation access to save opportunities and PDFs. Check that it reads the right profile first. You can also research and upload documents yourself. A connection does not schedule daily searches.
Acknowledging this step does not connect an account, submit an application, or change its stage.5Prepare, review, then applyTo do
Compare the posting with your saved evidence. Ask your assistant to research current matches and prepare truthful resume and cover letter PDFs, or prepare them yourself. Check every claim, requirement, and downloaded file before marking Ready for review. Apply through the employer’s site; Career Desk does not submit for you.

Only after the employer confirms submission, add the confirmed submission date and choose Applied. Record responses, interviews, notes, and a follow-up date in the same opportunity. Return to Overview to review due follow-ups. Export your workspace from Account & data whenever you need a copy.
